Where did you say you were?

The Bach is a little cabin located in a small eco village next to Lake Poerua (Mãori : Pouerua) in Inchbonnie on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand.

"Inchbonnie" is a hybrid of Lowland Scots, bonnie meaning "pretty" and Scottish Gaelic innis meaning island, often anglicised as "Inch", as in Inchkeith or Inchkenneth in Scotland. We’re sure once you visit you’ll agree with this description!

Roughly a 15 minute drive from Lake Brunner, Lake Poerua is located between the Alexander Range and the slopes of Mount Te Kinga.

It is also handily located for exploring Arthurs Pass National Park with it being a quick 23 minute journey by car.

Our story

While visiting family on the West Coast we stumbled across this empty section and fell in love with the view…

So we had a portable house built in the closest city and bought over on a truck and dropped on the section!

The Bach was created to be a getaway space for people to come and experience this amazing part of the country, and to use as a base for exploring the surrounding areas or as a space to simply relax in.

We want to share the West Coast experience with those from near and far - Living amongst the changing weather and the native birdlife, each day can be completely different to the day before, each with it’s own type of beauty.

As hosts, we take pride in creating a welcoming environment where everyone can make themselves at home.

Through sharing our home, we not only provide a place to stay but also a space for you to feel truly comfortable.
